Press Information
For the past two millennia people of all walks of life have been touched by the mission and love of Jesus Christ.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invites all in the Gig Harbor community to participate with us in the celebration of the birth of the Savior through inspirational music and depictions of the nativity from around the world.
This three-day event will be hosted in our new chapel located at 12002 Peacock Hill Avenue, Gig Harbor from Friday, December 6. The entire event will be open to the public at no charge each day from 1:00pm to 9:00pm through Sunday, December 8.
We invite all persons from the community to submit “nativity sets” for display during this event. A portion of the event will be a self-guided tour of nativity sets, which will be tastefully displayed in various rooms and halls of the Peacock Hill building. Nativity sets, or, crèches, will be displayed in a manner that is in keeping with the reverence that the Christian community feels for the birth of our Savior. Security will be provided to ensure that all nativities on loan are properly watched over throughout the period of the festival. Please contact Cheryl Smith if you would be interested in sharing your nativity at this event

Music
We are actively seeking choirs, soloists, instrumentalists, organists, pianists and ensembles from churches and community organizations, who would be interested in performing as part of this three-day event.
Those viewing the nativity exhibits will be able to hear performances as they peruse nativities, or, take a moment to sit and appreciate sacred music provided by the participating musicians. The music will be broadcast throughout the building. In keeping with the theme of celebrating the birth of the Savior we are specifically seeking Christ-centered vocal and instrumental music performances.
We invite all in the community to participate in three separate community choirs that will perform during the event. These will include a children’s choir for children ages 8 to 11; a youth choir for those ages 12 to 17; and an adult choir.
Children Welcome
A room will be provided where children can have a hands-on experience, including dressing up in costumes of the nativity, handling child-friendly nativity sets and
